deploy project to Web

12 November 2009 - 10:16 AM

I'm familiar enough with deploying traditional ASP.Net sites to a WWW server but I'm having trouble doing so with a Visifire project which I've run successfully on my machine (from http://www.visifire....ht_Project.htm). The problem is that I'm uploading two folders and a solution file and the project homepage is contained in one of those two folders. This means that since the homepage is buried down so deep, there will be an error when you open the site to the root directory. On my machine, I run the project and it does OK but I need to fill in the pieces for deploying to a true Web server. I'd appreciate any advice on how to deal with this from someone experienced in deploying Silverlight sites to a server.

LINQ to SQL question

In the LINQ to SQL documentation page of this site, it says to "add a new item 'WCF Service' to the web server project." I have a Silverlight-enabled WCF Service menu item available, but it doesn't open an interface as the instructions indicate will happen. How should I proceed since the interface doesn't come up?

Silverlight project confusion

20 October 2009 - 05:41 PM

In the "Creating Chart - LINQ To SQL Sample" documentation, the Project Setup portion reads "Create an 'Asp.Net Web Application' project in Silverlight." Apparently this example is for Visual Studio; I use Visual Web Developer so the exact option shown isn't available. The menu items I see in VWD are "New Project" and "New Web Site." "New Project" has options of "Silverlight Application" and "Silverlight Class" and "New Web Site" lists "Silverlight Script Web." In any case, none of these options allows an " 'Asp.Net Web Application' project in Silverlight" and creating a project under "New Project" and "New Web Site" bears no resemblance to the "SampleApplication1" solution with two projects as shown on the above URL. Is there a way to approximate this project in VWD?
